Automatic for the Little People: Alison Chats with SF Classical Voice about Making Music for Kids!

September 16, 2013 - 8:26pm -- Alison

This Sunday, the place to be with your preschooler will be the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Singer-songwriter Alison Faith Levy and her Big Time Tot Rock band will be doing three shows, headlining the Yerba Buena Family Day Festival.

Levy is a local phenomenon, a veteran entertainer whose first solo CD, World of Wonder
(2012) hits you with great songwriting and unexpectedly full
production, which had rock critic Greil Marcus invoking Phil Spector’s
“Wall of Sound.”

The Big Time Tot Rock band played to our biggest crowd yet - 650 rockin' kids and families at the Mountain View Library. Laurie Peck, the librarian "impresario" who organized the show, had these kind words:

Magnet Magazine Online Guest Editor Allen Clapp Talks About the Making of World of Wonder!

June 16, 2013 - 12:04pm -- Alison
I got a call from Alison Faith Levy
in the fall of 2011 regarding me producing an album of new tunes for
her. Unlike the moody, arty rock records she’d been making on her own
over the previous decade, this was going to be a kids’ album. It made
sense: Alison was a lead member of the kindie-rock phenomenon known as
the Sippy Cups: a psychedelic, theatrical roadshow dream for parents and
kids during the 2000s.

Alison & Rudy Trubitt's song "Deja Vu" featured on award-winning Science Fair compilation with Mates of State, Frances England, Elizabeth Mitchell and more!

August 31, 2012 - 9:48am -- Alison

Alison and her Sippy Cups bandmate Rudy Trubitt were recently tapped to write and record a song for Science Fair, a compilation released by Spare the Rock Records to benefit science and engineering education for girls, which recently won the Parents' Choice Gold Award. They came up with “Déjà Vu”, a witty little ditty about that very strange psychic phenomenon. The CD features such kindie rock luminaries as Elizabeth Mitchell, Lunch Money, Laura Veirs, Frances England, and indie rock superstars Mates of State.
